With the Nintendo Switch 2 looming on the horizon, EA Sports has confirmed that two of its flagship franchises—EA Sports FC and Madden NFL—are officially heading to the new platform. However, fans expecting full feature parity with the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S versions may need to temper their expectations. The announcement was made through a statement to Eurogamer, where EA highlighted its intent to deliver robust sports gaming experiences to Nintendo’s next-gen handheld-console hybrid. “Both experiences are being built specifically for the new handheld platform,” the publisher said. While that may sound promising, it stops short of guaranteeing identical features or visuals. In the past, EA has skirted around full parity due to the limitations of Nintendo hardware. Even the most recent FC 25 entry on the original Switch saw modest upgrades but remained behind the curve compared to its current-gen siblings.

The current statement seems to suggest a middle ground: while these new games will go beyond Legacy-style updates, they may still fall short of being direct equivalents to PS5 or Xbox versions. And although EA didn’t confirm whether FC 26 or Madden NFL 26 would be the exact titles coming to Switch 2, the suggestion is that new entries will exist—even if in modified form.
